Mod Gowns

For me, a wedding cake sets the whole mood of your reception. Usually, it is the center of attention, (Except for you, of course!) so it needs to be something that brings everything at the reception together. For our wedding, we found someone to make our cake for $60! The trick is to find someone that has some experience, but is just beginning their portfolio. That way, you can still have what you want without paying the price. Our wedding cake was 4 tiered, but we planned on not serving everyone cake, so it was only cut by the two of us. (** If you are planning to serve cake to your guests, my advice would be to just make some sheet cake on your own. You can serve it straight from the pan, or even cut it in advance and transfer it to something a little more elegant beforehand).  Since we were the only ones who planned on eating the cake, our baker decided to just create the bottom two layers with styrofoam. She still covered it with fondant, and made it look beautiful. And no one knew but us! We cut the top layer, and then threw the rest out! I was VERY happy with how our cake turned out, and even happier with the price. It was just what we needed on our budget!
